The Naira on Monday further depreciated against the Dollar at the parallel market.<br />
<br />
The Naira lost N1.50 to the Dollar as it was traded at N225.5 to the dollar on Monday afternoon.<br />
<br />
This is against the N224 to the Dollar recorded last Friday.<br />
<br />
Meanwhile, the official interbank rate also dropped by 0.05 to N196.95 to the dollar.<br />
<br />
Traders at the parallel market attributed the depreciation of the Naira at the market to insufficient quantity of Dollars at the market.<br />

Students of Osun State College of Education, Ila Orangun on Monday staged a fresh protest over the alleged planned merger of the college with another state owned College of Education in Ilesa.<br />
<br />
The students, who were armed with placards with various inscriptions stormed the palace of the Orangun of Ila, Oba Wahab Oyedotun, where people of the community were holding a meeting to deliberate on the alleged plan by Governor Rauf Aregbesola to merge the college with the one in Ilesa.<br />
The students stormed the venue of the meeting where chiefs and other leaders of the town had gathered. It took the organizers some minutes before they were able to calm down the protesting students.<br />
The students warned the governor against going ahead with the plan, saying they would resist the policy with everything they had.<br />
The Secretary of Ila Orangun Community, Mr. Yemi Adeoye, who addressed journalists said the people of the town had resolved that the status of the college should be allowed to remain the way it is.<br />
They said the restructuring would lead to reduction of academic programmes and population of the institution which was established in 1979.<br />
Adeoye said the restructuring would leave the college with just two academic programmes adding that this would affect the economy of the town whose residents depended on the college with 15,000 students for their source of income.<br />
He said, ” It is our humble submission that the present state government is being requested not to change the College of Education at Ila to that of primary and technical education and continuous education centre.<br />
“The status quo should please be allowed to remain. This is very important because of posterity and the generation yet unborn. The blood of Marty, Adepeju Oyedotun whose untimely death precipitated the birth of the college is crying in support of Ila Orangun community.”<br />
Residents of Ila Orangun and Ila Orangun Students Association led by its president, Mr. Rilwan Sulaiman and the Student Union President of the COE, Ila Orangun, Julius Akinleyin, had on Saturday marched round major streets in the town singing anti-government songs based on the rumour that the government had given a directive to governing councils of the colleges to work out the merger of the institutions.<br />

They said loud explosions were heard from the areas of Kayamla and Dalori, three days after Maiduguri was attacked by the insurgents, leaving 10 dead and many more injured. May God save us from these deadly people. Number of casualties is yet to be ascertain.<br />

There were a lot of  Pieces of human flesh seen on Saturday morning littering the roadside in a suburb of Abuja, Nyanya, where an explosive went off late on Friday.<br />
<br />
The explosive was said to have been detonated at the Jikwoyi Park, Nyanya, on the popular Abuja-Keffi Expressway, claiming yet-to-be ascertained number of lives.<br />
<br />
The late Friday incident was the third to be recorded in that vicinity. Two previous incidents with heavy casualties were witnessed there last year.<br />
<br />
<br />
A combined team of soldiers, policemen, officials of the Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corps as well as the Federal Road Safety Corps were seen controlling the crowd of onlookers which kept increasing every minute at the scene of the incident.<br />
<br />
Remains of human flesh that littered the road side were been picked by some policemen wearing black T-shirts marked “EOD”.<br />
<br />
The pieces of flesh were being packed inside cartons by the security operatives as wailing residents looked on.<br />
<br />
Buses and cars that had their windscreens shattered as a result of the impact of the blasts were still at the scene.<br />
<br />
An eyewitness, who identified himself simply as Aminu, told our correspondent that rescue workers recovered many corpses from the scene of the blast late Friday.<br />
<br />
“What you see them packing now are pieces of flesh because many of the victims were torn into pieces. Corpses with several missing parts were taken away last night,” he said.<br />
<br />
The incident has caused a serious traffic gridlock on the expressway inwards Abuja as many motorists made attempt to get a glimpse of the scene.<br />
<br />
Security operatives were still having difficulties in controlling the surging crowd at the time of filing this report at 7.15am.<br />
