The international break is always a good opportunity to take stock of the club scene, with lists proliferating on the Internet – best player of season so far, etc.

Kitbag have published this interesting list of the top 10 selling shirts across Europe, and there are some surprising appearances.

Manchester United’s new number 7 is without doubt the big winner – he is third on the list, with only Messi and Ronaldo ahead of him, and as such the highest selling shirt in the Premier League.

Considering his mixed performances since his arrival from PSV in the summer, it goes to show the vote of confidence he’s been given by the United faithful, as well as the cachet of the storied number 7 shirt.

Two other United players appear on the list, with Bayern legend Bastian Schweinsteiger at number 4, and Wayne Rooney at number 6 – which also highlights the worldwide support United enjoy over the likes of Arsenal (just 1 player).

The full list:

10: Philippe Coutinho

9: Alexis Sanchez

8: Sergio Aguero

7: Neymar

6: Wayne Rooney

5: Eden Hazard

4: Bastian Schweinsteiger

3: Memphis Depay

2: Cristiano Ronaldo

1: Lionel Messi
